Periodic Table Application
I’ve been working on a period table application with Mathew Taylor for Mac OS X. The available period table programs have left both of us dissatisfied so we’ve decided to create our own. Currently, the application code is about 60% complete but the hardest part which is collecting and aggregating the available atomic data is only about 20% complete. Still, as is I think the application we’ve created is useful. One particularly cool feature of the application is the ability to colorize the table cells based on atomic properties such as mass. Further, the alpha component of the colorizations are based on the relative ’strength’ of the selected values so that selected multiple colorizations will mix the colors. The pictures shown here are linked to a couple of PDFs that I exported from the application.
